Heavenly Valley Ski Resort in Lake Tahoe California offers 3,500 vertical feet of skiing on 4,800 acres with 97 trails and 29 chairlifts.  The 10,000 foot elevation ensures some of the best snow around.  You’ll find plenty of challenging expert runs as well as areas for beginners and kids.  The resort spans two states, California & Nevada.  When you’re finished for the day you can take a tram directly to the Nevada State Line and enjoy the multiple Casinos, fine dining and entertainment.  To get to Heavenly you can fly into nearby Reno Nevada.

At the opposite side of Lake Tahoe, Squaw Valley Ski Resort offers 3,600 skiable acres on six mountain peaks with 30 chairlifts.  Squaw Valley hosted the 1960’s Winter Olympics and includes many expert ski slopes.  This is a favorite spot for snow boarders and expert skiers.  The Village at Squaw Valley offers comfortable accommodations, cobblestone streets, galleries, restaurants, bars and entertainment.  Most major airports will offer direct flights to the nearby Reno Nevada airport.  There is plenty of lodging in the area and you can also stay and play in Reno which is around a half hour drive.

With more than 5,200 acres of skiable terrain, Vail Colorado in one of the nation’s largest ski resorts and is a popular training ground for Winter Olympic athletes.   The resort has plenty of long wide groomed runs, seven bowls, a mountain wall seven miles long, expert terrain, and slopes just for kids.  Vail boasts 31 ski lifts and 193 ski runs, with the longest run being 4 miles long.  Vail offers many events, activities and festivals, 5-star restaurant, shops, entertainment, world-class spas, and luxury accommodations.  The closest airport to Vail is the Eagle Airport 20-minutes away from Vail.  Direct flights are offered from major airports.  Otherwise, the Denver International Airport is a two hour drive from Vail.

Park City Utah offers multiple ski resorts.  The popular Park City Mountain Resort offers 3,300 acres of terrain with 116 runs spread over eight mountain peaks and 9 bowls.  With a 10,000 foot summit and a base at 6,900 foot elevation, the resort has some of the best snow averaging around 30-feet of snow fall per year.   The resort has 19 chairlifts including four 6-person lifts.  During the 2002 Winter Olympics the resort hosted men’s and women’s slalom and snowboarding events.  Park City offers plenty of accommodations, restaurants, shops, spas, galleries and entertainment.  To get there fly directly into the Salt Lake City International Airport and Park City is located around 35 miles to the east.

Whistler-Blackcomb Ski Resort in B.C. Canada has over 8,100 acres of ski slopes with over 200 runs, 16 bowls, terrain parks and half pipes.  The resort has 37 ski lifts.  Whistler-Blackcomb hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics alpine downhill ski events.  There are ski runs here for any level of skier and if you are a snow boarder you’ll love this resort.  You can spend days here and only do a fraction of the runs this place has to offer.  Whistler Village offers great lodging, dining, entertainment, bars, and shopping, including high-end hotels like the Whistler Four Seasons Resort and the Fairmont Chateau.  The easiest way to get to Whistler is to fly into the Vancouver B.C. International Airport.  From there it’s around 2 hours by car.
